Liverpool fans left stunned on Twitter as Harry Wilson eyes Anfield exit

Liverpool fans left stunned on Twitter as Harry Wilson eyes Anfield exit - Liverpool

The Derby loanee is seemingly keen on securing first-team football away from Liverpool next season

Big-money signings and glamour names are all well and good, but for football fans, a player that’s come through the academy to make their mark on the first-team will always be that little bit sweeter. In recent seasons at Liverpool, Trent Alexander-Arnold has enjoyed his fairytale journey into his boyhood side’s first-team, and Reds fans would have similarly hoped for the same for Harry Wilson. But if reports are to be believed, the 22-year-old may be cutting his time at Anfield far shorter than anyone would have expected.

According to the Daily Mirror, Wilson has revealed his intentions to leave Jurgen Klopp’s side with a host of clubs interested in the winger’s signature. The Welshman has enjoyed a fine season on loan at Derby County this season, and was a major reason behind the Rams’ run to the play play-off finals, scoring 18 goals and providing six assists in all competitions.

Having initially hoped to see Wilson return to the Liverpool side this summer, and potentially stake a claim for the first-team next season, many Reds fans on social media thought the winger was making a ‘huge mistake’, and were left disappointed by the decision.

Indeed, some suggested that the club put a buy-back clause in any deal that would see him leave, and labelled it a ‘shame’ that he would not be able to showcase his talent at Anfield.

Check out some of the disappointed reaction of Liverpool fans on Twitter below:
