Wijnaldum training ground strike shows Reds are ready for Champions League final
Goal-scoring hero of Liverpool’s miraculous comeback against Barcelona, it’s safe to say Georginio Wijnaldum’s stock has never been higher in the eyes of Reds fans. The Dutchman has popped up with massive moments throughout this season, and with a Champions League final to come, will be expected to step up once more. And if his performances in training are anything to go by, then Liverpool are in for a treat.
In a video posted on the Reds’ Twitter account, Jurgen Klopp’s side are involved in a small-sided game, with Wijnaldum at the heart of the action. After receiving a back-heeled lay-off from one of his teammates, the 28-year-old chips a first-time ball over to the left-hand side before volleying home from a headed cross back towards goal.
Understandably, the one-touch football and finish left many Liverpool fans on social media salivating about the prospect of their side replicating that in the final against Tottenham next week.
Indeed, whilst a few were eager to downplay the footage, many on Twitter were left revelling in Wijnaldum’s strike and drew comparisons with Reds legend Steven Gerrard.
Check out some of the delighted reaction of Liverpool fans below:
Hope you do that next week
