Raheem Sterling is usually a name that’s followed by the word ‘rat’ or ‘snake’ when Liverpool fans are concerned. However, last night the Reds couldn’t deny his brilliance against Spain, even if they are still bitter over the way he left them back in summer 2015.
The 23-year-old winger was in fine form yesterday when he ended his three-year-long wait for an England goal. The Manchester City man was in luck too, as after his long wait to find the net for his country ended, the wait for his next one was just a 22-minute one as his double, either side of a Marcus Rashford strike, had Gareth Southgate’s side 3-0 up and in dreamland against Luis Enrique’s Spain. Sterling will now be keen to make up for lost time and bag some more England goals in coming fixtures, and you wouldn’t bet against him.
Sterling came through at Liverpool and looked to be one of the club’s brightest prospects, shining throughout the 2013/14 season in which Brendan Rodgers’ Liverpool came so close to winning the Premier League. His 23 goals and 25 assists for Liverpool now feel like a very long time ago, though, as the influential attacker now plies his trade at The Etihad having signed for the Citizens under controversial circumstances. Due to that, the Kopites always make a point of slating the winger when the opportunity arises, but even they couldn’t deny his brilliance last night.

Sterling is only 23 and already a top winger, one of the elite for sure.

What a goal some finish by Sterling but the build up from Pickford, Kane and Rashford was really good!

The Kopites may not like Sterling, but they couldn’t do anything other than admire his brilliance yesterday.
