Yesterday, former Liverpool centre-back Kolo Toure turns 39 and fans are wishing him happy birthday on a highlights reel the club Twitter has put together.
Kolo Toure – for his time at Anfield at least – is arguably most famously known for the catchy chant about him and his brother Yaya, which his teammates sang in a hilarious video to have emerged online a number of years ago.
The Ivorian international spent three years with Liverpool before being released in 2016 and spending his final footballing year in Scotland with Celtic. Over his time on Merseyside, Toure became somewhat of a fan favourite and earned the title of ‘nicest footballer’ amongst supporters – the 39-year-old is also well-known for smashing into Phil Dowd after scoring an own goal against Fulham at Craven Cottage.
Many fans have flooded onto the club’s official tweet to wish their former defender a happy birthday. One supporter has called Toure a ‘legend’ whilst another has branded him ‘the most likeable player to wear the shirt’.
