Liverpool: Fans pleased that Michael Oliver will take charge of Wolves tie

Liverpool fans were delighted by the news that Michael Oliver will take charge of the Reds’ Premier League clash against Wolves at the Molineux on 23rd January, the Premier League revealed.

The 34-year-old last took charge of Jurgen Klopp’s side during their comprehensive 4-0 win against Leicester City on Boxing Day. A brace from Roberto Firmino and goals from James Milner and Trent Alexander-Arnold sealed all three points in what was a huge game for the Merseysiders. Before this tie, Manchester City put in an official complaint about Oliver as Liverpool beat the Citizens 3-1 at Anfield after they were furious with his officiating during the huge clash, as per the Metro.

The Kopite on Twitter (via @TheKopiteOFF) relayed the news from the Premier League that Oliver will be the man in the middle in the West Midlands. Under Oliver’s watch, Liverpool have only lost four times out of 36 matches and have won 19 of them, as per World Football. This would explain supporters’ jubilation about the news, with one fan describing him as the “best referee in English football”.
