Liverpool: Fans praise Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain for gesture to young fan

Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain arranged for his team-mates to sign a football for a young Burnley supporter who had been visibly upset after the clubs’ recent clash at Turf Moor.

The Liverpool Echo reported that the England international sought out his team-mates to sign the ball and take photos with 10-year-old Josh McLean after he noticed the child sobbing amid a crowd of adults trying to get autographs.

Liverpool-focused Twitter channel The Kopite highlighted the 26-year-old’s kind gesture via @TheKopiteOFF.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Josh’s father Nathan put the child on his shoulders to try and get players’ attention by holding up the ball and it was then that Oxlade-Chamberlain noticed the boy crying.

The Liverpool midfielder took the ball and re-emerged from the team’s coach a few minutes later with the ball containing signatures from multiple Reds players, some of whom also posed for photos with Josh. [via Liverpool Echo]
