Liverpool: Fans praise Vincent Kompany after protecting Simon Mignolet

Liverpool fans paid homage to former Manchester City skipper Vincent Kompany after he stuck up for ex-Red Simon Mignolet during a league match in Belgium.
The two Belgians left the Premier League to move back to their homeland and to Club Brugge and Anderlecht respectively, with the Citizens’ legend taking up the role as player-manager. The Belgian Pro League clubs are part of a rival which sparked from a sustained period of success for the two teams where they were both regarded amongst their country’s football elite. However, there was a moment during the game where Kompany rushed to Mignolet’s aid.
Class act from Vincent, confronted his own fan base after a flare was thrown on the pitch towards Mignolet, massive respect

Anderlecht fans threw a flare onto the pitch while Liverpool’s former No. 22 was attempting to take a goal-kick, forcing him to move away. In typical fashion, Kompany confronted his own fans in order to protect the Blauw-Zwart shot-stopper. He then put his arm around Mignolet and walked him back to his goal, as he continued to plead with the crowd not to throw any projectiles.
