A number of Liverpool fans lapped up footage posted by the club featuring Jordan Henderson in training.

The Reds' official Twitter channel @LFC posted a clip of the team on the training pitch, with the captain helping himself to a couple of nice goals.

The first was an exquisite volley which flew into the top-right corner of the net past a stranded Alisson as the midfielder watched a diagonal ball all the way, with the skipper then coolly dispatching another volley to the net from close range from a Fabinho cross.

The quality of the finishes may make it seem surprising that Henderson has scored just three times so far this season, one of which was a header from a set piece in the 2-1 win at Wolves, and averaged a modest 0.6 shots per game. However, the magnitude of his overall performances in 2019/20, in which he has the Reds' best tackling average, has led to BBC pundit Alan Shearer touting him to be named Player of the Season - an honour he claimed in a public vote conducted by BBC earlier this month.

These Liverpool fans on Twitter purred over the footage of the 29-year-old, with one supporter declaring him "better than prime Zidane", a reference to the former France midfielder who was named FIFA Men's Player of the Year three times and scored a stunning volley for Real Madrid in the 2002 Champions League final:
