Liverpool: Fans question Andrew Robertson’s omission from Ballon d’Or shortlist

Many Liverpool fans have expressed dissatisfaction at the list of nominees for the 2019 Ballon d’Or, despite the Reds having the highest representation of any club on the 30-man shortlist with seven nominees, as per France Football.

Alisson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, Georginio Wijnaldum, Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino all made the shortlist, with the two defenders and the Dutch midfielder receiving their first nominations for the award.

However, one of the Reds who didn’t make the list was Andrew Robertson, the left-back having also been omitted from the FIFA FIFPro Men’s World11 at The Best FIFA Football Awards in Milan last month.

The Scotland international played a significant role for Liverpool as they won the Champions League last season, his tally of 13 assists in all competitions the joint-second highest in the Reds’ squad, and he has a goal and three assists to his name already this term.

The 25-year-old has won plenty of acclaim for his performances at Anfield, with former Manchester United and Everton player Phil Neville calling him the best left-back in the world earlier this year, as per The Scotsman.

These Liverpool fans on Twitter were left aghast at Robertson’s omission from the Ballon d’Or shortlist:
