Liverpool: Fans rave about Neco Williams after senior debut

Liverpool youngster Neco Williams had an eventful first team debut against Arsenal on Wednesday night, with the Carabao Cup tie going to penalties after a 5-5 draw and the teenage right-back setting up Divock Origi’s stoppage time equaliser.
It wasn’t just the 18-year-old’s attacking impact which caught the eye, either, as the Anfield club’s official Twitter channel @LFC showcased some of his other qualities.

They tweeted a clip of Williams intercepting a loose pass from Sead Kolasinac, stretching to keep the ball in play when it looked like going out for a throw-in and then expertly winning a 50-50 tackle against the Arsenal defender, all in the space of six seconds. [via @LFC]

Roberto Firmino

A few reporters commended the youngster’s performance on the night, with Henry Jackson of This Is Anfield saying that he “did well in general and really grew into the game in the second half”, while the Liverpool Echo‘s Ian Doyle felt that he was “willing to get forward and got stuck in”.
These Liverpool fans on Twitter were full of praise for Williams after his display against Arsenal, with one even drawing comparisons with two-time World Cup winner Cafu:

What a player!
Offered more going forward than Clyne ever did.
People talk about great Klopp forwards & creative players, but that man knows how to mould a world class fullback.
Trent, Robbo, Milner, Piszeck, Schmelzer. Pretty sure he turned Großkreutz into a fullback too. pic.twitter.com/Wu7OY7CvoV
