Liverpool supporters have been in fine voice this week after seeing their team maintain their sensational start to the 2018/19 season by winning their first Champions League clash on Tuesday.
Jurgen Klopp’s men went into their meeting with Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain off the back of five straight victories to begin their Premier League campaign, the most recent of which a 2-1 success over Tottenham last weekend. And the Reds translated their domestic form into European competition on Tuesday night as goals from Daniel Sturridge, James Milner, and Roberto Firmino inspired the hosts to a 3-2 win at Anfield, thus maintaining their 100% start to the season.
Thus, there have been many thrilled Liverpudlians up and down the country in recent times, and many have been reacting to the news from manager Klopp in his pre-Southampton press conference that defender Dejan Lovren won’t be part of the squad this weekend.

The Croatia international enjoyed something of a renaissance in the second half of last season in helping Liverpool reach the Champions League final and then helping his country reach the World Cup final, although he has yet to feature so far this season due to injury.
In his absence, England international Joe Gomez has certainly proven his worth in the centre of defence in striking up an excellent partnership with Virgil van Dijk, thus calling into question whether Lovren will indeed go straight back into the team when fit.
And while Klopp confirmed that he is ‘close’ to a return, the 29-year-old won’t be in the squad for the visit of Mark Hughes’ Saints on Saturday, which appears to be music to the ears of plenty of Liverpool supporters on Twitter…

Make him earn his spot, Gomez is playing out of his skin, if anyone should go , it should be Alexander-Arnold!
