Loads of fans from across the footballing community have been discussing Liverpool’s masterful piece of business in selling Dominic Solanke, after the former Red produced a disastrous performance against Arsenal on Monday night.

Liverpool sporting director Michael Edwards has forged quite the reputation in recent years, signing bargains like Andy Robertson for £8m while even the bigger deals like Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker have been hugely successful too. His work in selling players is just as exemplary though, proven by Solanke’s horrific form at Bournemouth.

After recouping £15m from the Cherries for Jordon Ibe in 2016, Edwards went one further when selling Solanke as the Reds received £19m in January 2019. Since then he has scored just once on the south coast, the same number of goals he managed on Merseyside, per Transfermarkt.

According to Sofascore, he lost possession 16 times in Bournemouth’s FA Cup defeat to Arsenal on Monday, winning just one out of six aerial duels and failing to muster up a single shot.
