Lots of Liverpool fans have been reacting to news of a possible replacement for Dejan Lovren, with the Croatia international expected to have showdown talks with Jurgen Klopp this summer.
With just one year left on his contract, the 30 year-old Lovren could depart Merseyside this year, reported Football Insider last week. According to Passione Inter, via @LFCTransferRoom, rising Inter star Alessandro Bastoni is being viewed as a possible replacement for the man Brendan Rodgers signed way back in 2014 (BBC).
The report also claims Atletico Madrid’s Jose Gimenez and Red Bull Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano are possible alternatives. All three players seem ideal replacements for Lovren, as they are all younger and already performing at a high level at elite European clubs.
Bastoni has shot to stardom this campaign at the San Siro, even keeping seasoned veteran Diego Godin out of the side at times. The 20 year-old averages 1.6 tackles per game and 89% pass accuracy (Whoscored), and it seems he, Gimenez and Upamecano are all extremely exciting options judging from the Twitter reactions down below…
Upamecano would be insane next to VVD

Gimenez would be insane

Bastoni has had a great season. Keeping Godin out of the Inter team but Italians tend to not do as well in England.

Gimenez is good but VERY injury prone. No exaggeration to say he misses around 20 games a season through injury

Buy Bastoni and Upamecano

It would be good if we could go for Jose Gimenez of Athletico Madrid or Diego Carlos of Servilla. Then if that doesnt work we could go for Ben White at Leeds United at a cheaper fee
