Adam Lallana has cited a team-mate and a La Liga name as influences in his adaptation to a defensive midfield position at Liverpool.
In an interview with The Times, the 31-year-old spoke of watching Fabinho and Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong to get a better understanding of the ‘number six’ role in which he played during pre-season, with @TimesSport sharing a link to the interview on Twitter.

Since the start of 2017/18, Lallana has started only six Premier League games and made just 33 appearances in all competitions without scoring.
These Liverpool fans on Twitter seemed unconvinced by the midfielder’s comments about reinventing himself in a new position:
reinventing LMAO.. Played there once in a pre-season game and will most probably never play there again for Liverpool

Seriously what’s the point? An inconsequential article and footballer at this stage. Lad had the chance to move and didn’t, happy to sit on his wages. Is that in the article?

I swear this guy has more interviews than goals for Liverpool. And how does one reinvent themselves without playing a single official game?

A defensive midfielder

Can you see Lallana successfully adapting to a defensive midfield role at Liverpool or will he struggle to ever make it back into their first XI? Let us know your views by commenting below!
