Naby Keita spoke about his desire to become Jurgen Klopp’s ‘favourite in midfield in the coming years, but from Wednesday’s performance in the Carabao Cup, he looks miles from there. The 24-year-old was subbed off after 55 minutes with the score at 4-2 to Arsenal.
So far this season the midfielder has played just eight minutes in the Premier League despite costing the club £54m in the summer of 2018. His 91 minutes in the Champions League haven’t helped either, with Who Scored rating his just 6.81/10 despite him playing most of those minutes against Genk.
Some Liverpool fans seem to be growing frustrated with the Guinea international, and when The Redmen TV tweeted the news he was being taken off having picked up an injury, they said: “Naby off. Jones on. He hasn’t been great to be honest”.

These fans on Twitter jumped to the replies to agree, with one fan even likening him to injury-prone former Liverpool flop Alberto Aquilani, who had a reputation for picking up multiple injuries:
He’s been awful, to be honest…

He’s been dreadful, which is why people need to shut up saying he needs to start instead of Gini or Hendo. Another injury for Keita would sum up a poor night.

New aquilani I’m afraid

He’s never great I’m afraid. Nowhere near a 50 million pound player

What? Naby Keita? Hasn’t been good enough? Shock. Horror. Completely unlike him… 🤔🤔

The more I see of him the more I think we’ve been had off by Leipzig
