Liverpool: Fans salute Dejan Lovren after his performance against Napoli - Liverpool

Dejan Lovren’s 65th-minute equaliser for Liverpool in last night’s 1-1 draw against Napoli kept them top of their Champions League group going into the final matchday in two weeks’ time. [via Sky Sports]

The Croatia centre-back got his head to James Milner’s corner to rescue a point for the Reds at Anfield on a night when the Champions League holders missed the chance to book their place in the last 16. [via Sky Sports]

Aside from his goal, Lovren also won four aerial duels and ended the game with a superb passing accuracy rate of 97.7%, finding a team-mate with 83 of his 85 passes. [via WhoScored]

The 30-year-old struggled for game-time earlier in the season but has now started six of Liverpool’s last eight matches, with Ian Doyle of the Liverpool Echo citing a “good block from [Dries] Mertens early on” against Napoli, adding that he felt Lovren “won his battle first half with [Hirving] Lozano”.

Reds manager Jurgen Klopp is not keen on selling the Croatian in January (as per Football Insider), something that will likely please these Liverpool fans who lauded Lovren after last night’s performance:
