Liverpool fans fumed at The Sun journalist Neil Custis after he implied that there should be more balance when talking about how good the Reds have been this season.

The tabloid writer suggested that because of what Jurgen Klopp's side did last season, there should be more criticism thrown their way as a result. The German tactician has guided his side to the top of the Premier League, 16 points clear of Manchester City in 2nd following their 2-0 win over Manchester United.

Despite this, that wasn't enough for Custis as he insisted that there should be more of a balance when debating the topic of Liverpool's great football this season. Speaking on the Sunday Supplement on Sky Sports, Custis said, "All this eulogising about Liverpool, yes I understand it, but let's remember that they blew the title last season. This time last year when they went to Manchester City and could have gone 10 points clear. Great game. Lost it. Four points and then they struggled for the next couple of weeks and City went ahead."

Custis continued, "When the bar is that high [referring to Manchester City's run last season], that is what they have got to do. Credit to them, they have actually gone on and what City did last season, seems to have exhausted them. The reason we are talking about this is that it has taken 30 years to win the league."

Supporters were fuming about what the journalist said and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan described him as clueless after he reminded him that the Reds accumulated 97 points last season, while another stated that losing one game all season is hardly "blowing the title".
