The latest coronavirus threat has reportedly put Liverpool’s chances of lifting the Premier League trophy in front of their fans in jeopardy. Due to the rapid increase in cases, the Reds could be celebrating their first league win in 30 years in front of an empty stadium (via Liverpool Echo).
Reporters understand that the Premier League are attending regular meetings over the status of the remaining games this season, with increasing chances that matches will be played behind closed doors.
The third UK death as a result of coronavirus has been confirmed and the virus is now active in over 40 countries (via The Guardian). Sports events are being increasingly effected and English football is likely to be closing its doors to the public within a matter of weeks.
Liverpool fans are naturally devastated at the thought of not being able to watch Jordan Henderson lift the trophy, but many supporters are adamant a closed stadium won’t stop them.
The Reds are just six points away from winning their first ever Premier League title and first league win in three decades. One fan has said there will be ‘riots’ if the Premier League try to stop them from seeing the trophy lift while another has joked about tunnelling in from Stanley Park.
Here is what some had to say on Twitter…

I’m undecided about whether to dig a tunnel from Stanley Park or parachute in, myself
