Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has dismissed reports linking Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe with a move to Anfield.
Spanish media outlet El Desmarque reported (via Daily Express) this week that the Reds were prepared to spend what would be a world record €250m (£215m) to bring the 20-year-old to Merseyside. According to El Desmarque, Liverpool would be willing to sell Mohamed Salah to Real Madrid if a deal for Mbappe were to be completed.
However, the Reds manager has now poured cold water on the possibility of the club signing the PSG youngster, with The Guardian quoting him as saying there is “absolutely no chance” of such a transfer occurring.
Klopp on Mbappe 2/2: “Okay, from a sporting point of view, there are not a lot of reasons to not sign him. What a player he is. It is about the money of course. No chance. Absolutely, no chance. Sorry for killing that story.”

These Liverpool fans on Twitter weren’t taking Klopp’s recent comments at face value, though:

Klopp also said “We will not go back to buy Van Dijk, He is too expensive now” Rule 1 with Klopp: Never trust a word he says to the media.

This is the strongest indication yet that Mbappe is joining Liverpool 😅👍

And I remember the live press conference of Brendan Rodgers about Mario Balotelli. We categorically deny any involvement with Balotelli absolute nonsense then he signed haha.
I’ve been a Liverpool fan long enough to know that this is definitely mind games.
