Liverpool: Fans unhappy with Reds’ defending in Merseyside derby

Liverpool made it 14 wins out of 15 in the Premier League this season with their Merseyside derby triumph on Wednesday night.

Four first half goals left the Reds in a dominant position, with Divock Origi scoring twice, Xherdan Shaqiri netting on his first start of the season and Sadio Mane also on target. [via Sky Sports]

However, Liverpool’s defence was beaten twice by Everton in the opening 45 minutes, first by Michael Keane to make it 2-1 and then by Richarlison on the stroke of half-time to leave the score at 4-2 going into the interval (as tweeted by @LFC).

While Georginio Wijnaldum’s stoppage time goal rounded off a 5-2 victory for the Premier League leaders, the concession of two goals again highlighted their problems at the back.

Liverpool’s wait for a clean sheet at Anfield this season goes on, while they haven’t shut out a team in any competition since the end of September, and the Reds have now conceded 14 goals in the league already this term after letting in just 22 in the whole of 2018/19 in the division.
