Liverpool: Fans urge club to extend Gini Wijnaldum’s contract

Liverpool are reportedly readying up a new contract offer for Georginio Wijnaldum which could see him stay at Anfield until 2023 (via @NicoSchira).
Since joining the Reds in 2016 from a relegated Newcastle side, Wijnaldum has become a fan favourite amongst Kopites. The Dutchman has made a name for himself as a player who loves a big occasion, with his brace against Barcelona last season arguably his most important performance in red.
Although his goalscoring numbers aren’t through the roof, the 29-year-old is a driving force in Liverpool’s midfield. Indeed, Wijnaldum has maintained 90.9% passing accuracy this season which is higher than the likes of Kevin de Bruyne (81.7%, via WhoScored) and no Reds midfielder averages more than his 1.2 dribbles per game.
Are you desperate for Wijnaldum to stay?
Yes

No

With Naby Keïta’s future with the club uncertain and talks of Adam Lallana departing in the summer, it’s imperative that Liverpool keep hold of the quality midfielders they have. Fans couldn’t be happier that the Reds are set to offer Wijnaldum a new deal with many stressing that it’s a ‘no brainer’. Another supporter has said ‘we need him badly’.
No brainer

He does the job, he’s the best at it. Balance, control, fight for the ball and stabilize the midfield. He won’t be scoring tons of goals, but he’s good at calming things down and at many defensive situations. Almost never gets tired.
