Georginio Wijnaldum has spoken out about his relationship with Jurgen Klopp, and Kopites are now urging the Dutchman to pen his future and sign a new deal with the club (via @AnfieldWatch).
Following his move from a relegated Newcastle side back in 2016, Wijnaldum committed five years to the club, taking his Liverpool career up to 2021. With just over a year left on his current contract, Reds fans are now urging the Dutchman to sign a new deal and stay at Anfield.
“The manager has had a big influence on me,” Wijnaldum said (via Liverpool’s official club website). “The players adore him because he cares about the players and he is a good coach, a coach who improves his players. We have a really good player-coach relationship.”
The 29-year-old made his Merseyside move for a fee of £24.7million and his performances over the last four years have spiked his worth up to £45million (via Transfermarkt).
Wijnaldum has scored a total of 18 goals and assisted 16 in 177 appearances across all competitions (also Transfermarkt). He also famously scored a brace against Barcelona in last year’s Champions League semi-final which helped Liverpool lift their sixth European trophy.
Reds fans are desperate for the midfielder to put pen to paper. One supporter has said ‘there is no midfielder in the world like him’ and has branded the Dutchman as ‘immovable’.
