Dietmar Hamann may have been an extremely popular figure during his time at Liverpool with the players, however it appears he may have alienated some of the club's faithful on Twitter with his latest comments regarding Timo Werner.

Writing in his column for Sky Germany, via the London Evening Standard, the former Anfield star suggested that the 23-year-old would be better off joining Premier League rivals Manchester United or Chelsea rather than playing his football in Merseyside after recent links and the forward's comments about Jurgen Klopp's side.

"If none of the three strikers [Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane] get injured or move, he won’t play and I don’t think that’s what he wants. Liverpool is the absolute benchmark, but in my view he would be better suited to Manchester United or Chelsea,” he wrote.

This article was relayed to fans on Twitter by Anfield Watch and it would be safe to say many of them were far from impressed with what 'Didi' had to say about it, with a few slamming their former legend.

Some mocked the German for what he has said in the past in regards to Liverpool and Klopp, with the former midfielder once questioning whether the current manager was good enough for the club back in 2018 (Daily Mail), whilst some joked about him for not being currently employed in a managerial role, whilst others hit back sarcastically suggesting that he needs to be listened to.

Here are just some of their reactions...
