Liverpool: Fans were delighted to see Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane set up each other’s goals against Genk

Liverpool ran out convincing 4-1 winners over Genk in their Champions League group stage clash last night, with two goals for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and one each for Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.

The African forwards teamed up effectively with one another at the KRC Genk Arena, with Salah rolling the ball to Mane to dink it over Gaetan Coucke for Liverpool’s third goal of the night and Mane playing the final pass to Salah before he skipped past two Genk defenders and finished to the net for the Reds’ fourth.

Earlier this season, there appeared to be friction between the pair after Mane reacted angrily to being substituted in a win at Burnley in August, appearing to gesture at Salah for not passing to him when in a scoring position a few minutes earlier. [via Sky Sports]

Mane admitted a few weeks later that he felt “frustrated” about the incident at the time but insisted that he and Salah are “really, really good friends”. [via talkSPORT]

Indeed, a recent article from the Daily Mail suggested the feud was still bubbling under the surface.

These Liverpool fans on Twitter were glad to see the African duo setting up each other’s goals against Genk last night:
