It’s still amazing to this day to think that the stars of Liverpool’s incredible comeback against Barcelona was spearheaded by two Georginio Wijnaldum goals.

The Dutch international is not known for his goal scoring traits, and even after being a solid member of the Liverpool XI this season, fans still can’t believe that Wijnaldum was the one to take the game into the Reds hands and ultimately sent them to their second consecutive Champions League final, and the former Newcastle man is looking likely to play a big role in the showdown in Madrid.

The midfielder said in the pre-match press conference that he is willing to play anywhere on the pitch, saying via Liverpool’s official website: “I prefer to play in midfield, but if the manager needs me there I will play anywhere.”

With no Naby Keita for the final due to injury, Wijnaldum is in line to start the must-win game for the Reds, but after his heroics against Barcelona, the Dutchman could be a key man in the game against Spurs.

His impact against Barca was a game changer, scoring twice in quick succession to turn the match on its head, and against Tottenham, Wijnaldum’s underrated attacking ability could be of help for Liverpool of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho start in midfield as well.

Wijnaldum wrote his name into Liverpool folklore in the blink of an eye in the Reds last Champions League game, and the Dutch midfielder can do it again against Tottenham on Saturday.
