If you were to ask a Liverpool fan a few years ago which academy player they expected to be a star, the most common answer would be Harry Wilson.

The Welsh playmaker was tipped for greatness in the early days of his Liverpool career after making his international debut at just 16 years of age, becoming the youngest ever player to play for the Dragons, and this season has seen Wilson really establish himself on the world stage.

The Wrexham-born winger has been a revelation at Frank Lampard’s Derby County this season, scoring 18 goals and assisting six.p Indeed, the Championship play-off final awaits Derby County after beating Leeds in the semi-final, and it has been Wilson’s performances that have caught the eye of many Liverpool fans.

The 21-year-old’s sensational campaign out on loan has seen fans call on Jurgen Klopp to involve Wilson in the first-team next season, and the German would be wise to listen to supporters.

Wilson will be a suitable backup for both Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah with the Welshman able to play on both wings. The Reds aren’t exactly blessed with a large amount of wingers, so he could more than useful.

It might have taken a while, but Liverpool fans are finally getting to see what Wilson is capable of after years of promise, and now Klopp has to ensure the winger is included in his plans for next season.
