After dropping points in recent weeks, some normality was restored as Liverpool thrashed Bournemouth 3-0 at Anfield during the weekend. It felt like things were back to normal, as the Reds played crisp, attacking football to floor Eddie Howe’s side. However, another familiar thing which crept up was the Reds gaining the advantages of lady luck once again.

For the opening goal, Sadio Mane was actually in an offside position when James Milner played in the cross. This turned out as Liverpool’s second dubious goal in as many games, something which has infuriated fans all over. Interestingly, Mane’s the one at the root of all these dodgy calls.

Even earlier in the season, during the Reds; 4-0 thrashing of West Ham duirng the opening week, Mane had scored a goal despite being in an offside position. While poor officiating is to be pointed out, these instances happened in such a frantic manner that only VAR could have prevented it.

Not only are Liverpool getting the benefit of the doubt in certain offside calls, they’ve also received many questionable penalties this season. Mohamed Salah was under fire for simulating to get penalties recently and at times, these dubious decisions have been critical towards winning games for Jurgen Klopp’s men.

Brendan Rodgers might’ve left years ago but Liverpool has the luck of the Irish on their side this season. If they can make good use of their fortunes to lift the Premier League trophy aloft come May, remains to be seen. However, Klopp cannot moan about things not going his way...
