Despite having so much to shout about recently, Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are hit with the underlying sense of unease that Simon Mignolet is still in fact their Number 1.
While a number of top stoppers have been linked with making a move to Anfield, German outlet Bild claim that reported target Bernd Leno is facing a deadline in regards to a potential deal.
The Bayer Leverkusen custodian is understood to have a €16m buyout clause inserted into his deal, but it is only active until April 30th.
If a deal cannot be agreed by then, the German under-21 ‘keeper will command a fee of his club’s choosing.
€16m is a relatively cheap price for a man of Leno’s stature, though the upcoming deadline gives the Reds little chance to dilly dally.
The Bundesliga club have opened talks with the 24-year old and his representatives, though the clause remains in place until it passes.
Should Liverpool bite the bullet and make a move now? Can they afford to pass this up?
