Liverpool increasingly confident over World Cup winner, could do £20m deal within days

The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern still standing at this time on a Saturday night have been rewarded for their commitment to the cause and then some!

According to the Sun, the Reds are aiming to tie up a £20m deal for World Cup winning playmaker Mario Gotze within a matter of days.

The Reds have been strongly linked with a move for the 23-year old for a number of months now, with the player sharing a good relationship with Jurgen Klopp from their together at Borussia Dortmund.

He left for Bavaria in 2013, though has struggled for game time under Pep Guardiola and is reported to have been told he can leave by incoming boss Carlo Ancelotti.

It is believed that the Merseyside giants are confident of getting a deal together in time for the European Championships this summer, in what would be a marquee deal for the club.

Though he has found game time hard to come by at the Allianz Arena, the German international remains one of the talented attackers on the continent and would represent quite the coup for a side who cannot offer European football.

Where will Gotze fit in at Liverpool? Will he be enough to fire them into the top four?
