Liverpool legend threatens to scupper £25m Klopp deal, Everton also eager

While the Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern erupted in raucous delight over Jurgen Klopp’s new deal earlier this morning, the half-full pint glasses now suddenly look bleakly half-empty.

That’s because, according to the Daily Mail, the Reds are unwilling to splash £25m on Newcastle United star Georginio Wijnaldum,

The Dutchman has been linked with a move to Anfield following the Toon’s relegation to the Championship, as well as Tottenham Hotspur and Everton.

Able to operate in a number of midfield positions, the 26-year old is seemingly a natural fit for the demanding style of play imposed by Kop chief Jurgen Klopp, though the Magpies’ valuation could see the deal called off.

Rafa Benitez, in charge at St. James’ Park and a legend on Merseyside himself, has constantly insisted he is under no pressure to sell.

They have already splashed out a fee of over £30m to land Southampton star Sadio Mane, though are locked in talks over a £15m deal to sell Jordon Ibe to Bournemouth.

Should Liverpool splash £25m on the former PSV Man?
