The coming couple of months could be pivotal for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool with Champions League qualification very much on their agenda and we’ve already spotted some Kopites eyeing the fixture list while debating how many points they will accumulate between now and the end of game 38 here in the Transfer Tavern.
Much of the importance surrounds their ability to attract big players this summer, with the Reds having ended last year’s off-season with a positive net spend before opting not to snap up fresh talent in January.
And reports from TuttoMercatoWeb claim that plans are being put in place behind the scenes on Merseyside, with Leandro Paredes or Roma and Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic wanted.
TMW reveal that a fee of around €25m (21.7m) will be needed for the former while the latter may cost €35m (£30.3m), which would be a serious amount of cash to spend on two players without top level European football on offer.
Paredes is a box-to-box midfielder of Argentine descent, while Perisic is a versatile attacker who has been lauded for his tenacity and work-rate.
Liverpool must sign Leandro Paredes this summer – agree?
