Liverpool looking to finalise deal for Euro 2016 hero

News has made it’s way through the doors here at the Football Transfer Tavern that one of the many transfer sagas of this summer may be nearing a close, and it’s one Liverpool fans will want to pay attention to.

The future of the man once proclaimed the ‘Welsh Xavi’, Joe Allen, has been up in the air all summer, but now it appears we may have a decision on the horizon.

Speaking after his side’s 5-0 win over Fleetwood Town, Jurgen Klopp told BBC Raido 5 Live:

“We will find a solution but it’s not done.”

He added: “Obviously Joe Allen is a good player. We never doubted this. He played a good European Championship, like the whole Welsh team.

“We have to make decisions, we have to find solutions. We have to talk to the player, ask the player and think about our situation. That’s how it works.”

Whether this means that the Reds are looking to table a new contract offer or are considering listening to offers from potential suitors, one thing is for certain, the German manager wants to quickly wrap up the deal either way.

The Welsh international was integral to his side’s success at this summer’s Euros, helping them to a place in the semi-finals of a major tournament for the first time in the history of Welsh football.

Wales fans, we want to know what you think! Should Allen be offered a new deal after his displays this summer? Let us know below…
