News from a far as reached the bar staff at the Football Transfer Tavern today, and they have begun passing it on to the punters of a Liverpool persuasion.
Turkish side, Fenerbahce, have today confirmed the signing of Liverpool and Slovakia defender, Martin Skrtel, however there is no word from Anfield yet.
Talksport have reported that the club President, Aziz Yildirim, has told Turkish site, AMK Spor, that “The (Gregory) van der Wiel and Skrtel transfers are almost done.”
The 31-year-old, had been away in France with his national team until they were comprehensively beaten by Germany in the Round of 16 at the Euros.
The stoic Slovakian was part of the defence that managed to keep fellow Premier League players Wayne Rooney, Jamie Vardy and teammate Daniel Sturridge out during England’s final Group Stage game.
