Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have been explaining the importance of their summer transfer window to our uninterested waitresses at the bar, who have got fed up with the constant chatter.
Our landlord is always happy to gossip though and he’s shared knowledge of an interesting report that’s emerged in the British press, which indicates Jurgen Klopp’s side have significantly raised their asking price for a player who’s set to be on the move this summer.
The Daily Mail reports Liverpool are demanding a fee of £25m for French international Mamadou Sakho this summer, raising his asking price by £5m following impressive performances during the defender’s loan stint with Crystal Palace.
Signing for the Eagles in January, Sakho has had a huge impact on Sam Allardyce’s squad and the Eagles have pushed themselves towards Premier League safety, after impressive victories against Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool.
Allardyce’s side are keen to sign £100k-a-week Sakho permanently this summer, as are a number of other Premier League outfits, but our landlord believes the rise in Liverpool’s asking price could significantly reduce interest.
The Palace fans here in the Transfer Tavern are somewhat worried about this latest news regarding the defender, and can envisage seeing Palace stump up a fee of that magnitude for the player.
