According to French media outlet Le 10 Sport (via The Daily Star) Serie A sides AC Milan and Inter Milan are going to battle it out for Liverpool outcast Mamadou Sakho, with our Reds fans here in the Transfer Tavern pretty resigned to the fact that he’ll be gone soon.
The French international and the club’s manager Jurgen Klopp have suffered a severe break down in their relationship over recent months and now look set to finally part ways for good in January with Milan having been touted as a possible destination for the defender.
Sakho was a key part of the Reds’ defence last season as they reached both the Europa League and League Cup finals, but after showing a lack of discipline during the club’s pre-season tour of the United States, he was sent home early and has not featured for the club once since.
He has seen his spot taken by the ever improving Joel Matip who looks a real find, too, and so even if, by some miracle, Klopp and Sakho reconciled, he would still find playing time hard to come by.
He has also been linked with a return to Ligue 1 but would apparently prefer to play in Italy should he leave Anfield.
