Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are delighted to see Jordan Henderson and Trent Alexander-Arnold progress to the last eight of the 2018 World Cup.

After a hard fought game against Colombia, the Three Lions progressed to the quarter-finals to face Sweden following a nail-biting penalty shootout. Liverpool’s captain missed his spot-kick but has been excellent throughout the tournament and should be applauded for stepping up. Our punters were over the moon to see Alexander-Arnold feature against Belgium after a magnificent season on Merseyside.

Jurgen Klopp has splashed over £90m on transfer so far this window – Naby Keita arriving from RB Leipzig and Fabinho joining from Monaco. The two arrivals soften the blow of losing Emre Can who departed on a free transfer to Juventus. With a gruelling season ahead, more depth in midfield could be required.

One man Klopp would be wise to sign is Chelsea midfielder – Ruben Loftus-Cheek. Valued at £13.5m by Transfermarkt, the 22-year-old spent last season on loan with Crystal Palace where he made 24 appearances, scoring two goals and notched three assists. His performances earned him a place in Gareth Southgate’s World Cup squad, where he has made three appearances.

Despite his evident quality, he seemingly has no future at Stamford Bridge, and Liverpool should take advantage and bring him to Anfield. Chelsea to Liverpool is a well-travelled road with Dominic Solanke swapping London for Merseyside last year.

Loftus-Cheek is a powerful midfielder, combining great physical attributes with outstanding technical ability. The combination of power and grace makes him a one-of-a-kind player that would thrive under Klopp’s tutelage.

A move to Anfield could be the perfect move to fulfil his potential and become a Premier League superstar.
