Liverpool open talks for “unbelievable” Luis Diaz replacement whose agent has already said he wants to join the Reds

Liverpool have enjoyed a superb first season under Arne Slot, comfortably winning the Premier League and dominating opponents for much of the campaign.
However, this summer could bring significant challenges.
The club has already lost Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid, while both Andrew Robertson and Darwin Núñez are widely expected to depart—forcing a potential mini-rebuild at Anfield.
One more name who may be on his way out is Luis Díaz, with serious interest coming from Barcelona.
According to Relevo, the Colombian winger is Barça’s number one transfer target this summer. The Spanish giants believe they have both the relationship with Liverpool and the financial flexibility to pull off a deal valued at over £65 million.
Barcelona reportedly view Díaz as the ideal addition to provide depth on the wings and ease their reliance on Raphinha and Lamine Yamal. Díaz, 28, has scored 17 goals in all competitions this season and is seen as the perfect fit for their system.

Should Díaz depart, Liverpool already appear to be preparing his replacement in the form of Malick Fofana, one of Ligue 1’s breakout stars this season.
Described as an “unbelievable talent,” the 19-year-old Belgian international has been in fine form for Lyon, scoring 11 goals and notching six assists across all competitions. His dynamic play and versatility—capable of operating across the front three but most dangerous from the left—have attracted strong interest.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Liverpool have already opened discussions with Lyon and have “sounded out” Fofana regarding a potential move. The Reds reportedly value the winger at around £17 million, but Lyon are said to be holding out for closer to £25 million, aware of the potential windfall Liverpool could receive for Díaz.
Fofana’s agent has also revealed the player’s desire to join Liverpool, telling Africa Foot: “The choice of the heart would be Liverpool.”
He added that Newcastle United could also be an option, viewing them as a strong stepping stone for his career.
When describing his client’s profile, the agent compared Fofana to Manchester United’s Amad Diallo: “He possesses qualities similar to those of Amad Diallo—speed, impact, and the ability to create chances.”
