The Liverpool fans in the Football Transfer Tavern who’ve been lamenting the inconsistency that continues to define Jurgen Klopp’s tenure in charge, have been bewildered and bemused by a report from the Daily Mail.
Defensive frailty has been as big a part of the Reds’ play under the charismatic German, just as much as the fluid attacking enterprise that destroyed the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City previously.
With that in mind, French defender Mamadou Sakho has emerged as somewhat of a cult-hero amongst the Merseyside locals propping up the bar.
While not the most elegant to watch, the 26-year-old has endeared himself to the Kop faithful through a series of resolute defensive outings over the past few months.
Still, the report claims that the former PSG star could be allowed to leave Anfield on loan in an attempt to build up his fitness.
Having penned a new five-year deal back in September, a potential temporary move away from the club could be on the cards.
It is understood top brass at Liverpool would like to see how the Les Blues international copes with regular game time.
Joel Matip and Ragnar Klavan were drafted into the club over the course of the summer, further bolstering Klopp’s ranks.
Our landlord here in the Transfer Tavern thinks Sakho needs to move away from Liverpool to further his career, and says the defender needs a fresh start!
Would Sakho be a huge loss? Can Klopp improve him as a player? Let us know below!
