As much as we are used to the rumour mill throwing up some shock stories here in the Transfer Tavern, every so often you’ll find even our most experienced of punters taken aback.
That’s because, according to France Football (via the Daily Star), Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is ready to make a stunning swoop for England stalwart Joe Hart.
Despite being a mainstay of the Manchester City team over the past few years, the 29-year old has been linked with a move away from the Etihad as Pep Guardiola prepares for his arrival in England.
The Spaniard is reportedly targeting Barcelona custodian Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, who ironically enough has been touted as a potential option for the Reds, as he looks to stamp his authority at the Etihad.
As a result, Klopp could make a stunning swoop for the ‘keeper should he be left in the lurch, as he bids to improve upon the inconsistent Simon Mignolet.
The Belgian is a decent enough shot stopper, though despite penning a long-term deal earlier this year, has failed to wholly convince at Anfield.
How big a statement would Liverpool signing Hart be this summer? Would Guardiola be silly in getting rid of him?
