Liverpool continued their 100% record in the Premier League this season after the 3-0 victory over Burnley kept them at the top of the table, two points ahead of champions Manchester City.
Jurgen Klopp’s men have seemingly carried on their exceptional form from last season, and with the visit of strugglers Newcastle United today, the Reds should be expected to carry on, especially given their record at Anfield. Indeed, it’s been 42 games in the Premier League since they lost at home.
Indeed, the Champions League winners are the in-form team in Europe right now with many big sides around the continent such as Manchester City, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich all dropping points so far in their respective leagues.
So, how will Klopp line up his side against the Magpies?
UEFA Player of the Year Virgil van Dijk should keep his spot alongside Joel Matip, who scored against Arsenal three weeks ago. The two have built a well-drilled partnership again this season, conceding just three goals so far.
In midfield, Naby Keita is still sidelined which should keep the midfield the same as it was against Burnley, as all three of them earned a 7/10 in a dominant display at Turf Moor (as told by the Liverpool Echo).
Trent Alexander-Arnold was denied his third Premier League goal, with his cross going down as an own-goal off Chris Wood. However, the 20-year-old once again earned a 7/10 rating for his performance against the Clarets, as he continues to establish himself as one of Europe’s best.
At left-back, Andrew Robertson also carries on developing into one of Europe’s elite, and the Scot has played every minute of league action so far, averaging a rating of 7.06 (as per WhoScored).
