Liverpool ready to rival Spurs in bid to offer World Cup winner sensational Premier League return

The transfer rumours swamping our Liverpool supporting punters in the Transfer Tavern have tended to have a pretty German feel about them ever since Jurgen Klopp took over.

Following an impressive run of form, ‘Kloppmania’ is once again palpable on Merseyside, though it’s fair to say the latest rumour is a tad left-field.

The Reds are reported to have joined Tottenham Hotspur in attempting to lure former Chelsea forward Andre Schurrle back to the Premier League.

Kicker, via the Liverpool Echo, suggest the 26-year old could be a major target of Klopp’s this summer.

Clearly a talented player, the World Cup winner never truly made his mark under Jose Mourinho and was sold to Wolfsburg.

However, after impressing back in the Bundesliga, the diligent wide man is said to have attracted interest from his countryman as he plans to truly mark down his authority at Anfield.

He’s scored nine goals in 36 games as a wide forward, though it is his intense work rate that could see him fit into the new philosophy with the Reds.

Interestingly, Chelsea opted to sell Kevin De Bruyne to Wolfsburg, only to see him establish himself as one of the best players in Europe and return to the Premier League.

Now a £55m Manchester City star, the Belgian has come back to bite the Blues.

Could Schurrle turn out to be another KDB? Is he the ideal Klopp wide forward?
