Liverpool face Real Madrid in the Champions League final on Saturday in their biggest game of the season, and fans in the Transfer Tavern will be delighted with the news that has recently been reported.
The Reds have had a solid tournament, but manager Jurgen Klopp will know he needs his players to be at their very best if they want to be able to lift the trophy in Kiev. The Anfield outfit have had their injury concerns over the last few weeks though, yet they look to have been provided with a very timely boost ahead of the clash.
And that’s because, according to a report in The Independent, James Milner was involved in an open training session at Anfield on Monday.
The experienced professional had missed out on the Reds’ final Premier League game of the season with Brighton & Hove Albion with a muscle problem, and as such there were some concerns among our resident Liverpudlians that he could miss the Champions League final, this all after playing a key role in helping them reach the showpiece.
However, news that Milner did indeed partake in training is likely to delight those Reds fans, many of whom are growing in anticipation ahead of Saturday’s clash.
Landlord’s Verdict: The versatile 32-year-old has been a key player in Liverpool’s season, and fans in the Tavern will be delighted that he could be available for the clash with the La Liga giants.
The Reds will already be without the likes of Joe Gomez, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Joel Matip, whilst there are doubts that Emre Can and Adam Lallana could still be involved in the Champions League final – thus, to potentially have Milner back is sure to come as a very timely boost to manager Klopp ahead of Saturday’s encounter.
