Liverpool: Roberto Firmino is the missing piece for Champions League glory

Hearing about the latest injury news before a cup final is always tense as a fan, even more so when it’s the Champions League, but for Liverpool supporters, it has been nothing but positivity.

Jurgen Klopp confirmed that Roberto Firmino will be back for the final against Tottenham, and although it was also announced that Naby Keita will be missing the massive game in Madrid, Liverpool fans will be more pleased about the Brazilian attacker returning than the former RB Leipzig number eight sitting on the sideline.

Firmino might not have been too big a miss in the past few weeks when Liverpool smashed Barcelona 4-0 with the former Hoffenheim man out of the squad, but the inclusion of the 27-year-old for Saturday is massive and fills in the final piece for the Reds’ plan against Spurs.

The Brazilian has not been as productive this season as he was to last year, yet his influence in the Liverpool XI is as strong as ever, and although Divock Origi has proven to be a more than capable replacement for Firmino, there is no question that the Merseyside club are better with their talisman frontman than the Belgian international.

Firmino brings the best out of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, two players who have yet again been vital for Liverpool this season, and with the trio back together again for one last time, Spurs could be in for a long night if they are not prepared to deal the attacking trident.

Liverpool have been fine without Firmino, but there is no question that the Reds are a better ran team with the Brazilian in the side than without him.

Liverpool fans, how important will Firmino be for the final? Let us know!
