Our Liverpool fans here in the Transfer Tavern are starting to become nervous, with the January window approaching.
Similar to the summer transfer window, our chief barman seems to think that Barcelona are reported to come back in for Liverpool’s star player, Philippe Coutinho. While the Reds managed to fend off three bids for the Brazilian and keep hold of their playmaker, the window is set to re-open in a matter of weeks.
Having said that, our glass collector poses the rather interesting question, would it be a wise move for Klopp to let Coutinho go?
In Mo Salah, they have, without doubt, one of the signings of the seasons. Many of our punters believed it was a hefty fee for the former Chelsea man, however, he’s now the Premier League’s leading goal-scorer and the only player since Luis Suarez to score more than 12 goals in a single season, and we’re not even at the halfway point.
Few could have imagined the Egyptian’s success during the time Barcelona were chasing Coutinho and there’s certainly an argument to be had in regard to whether or not the Anfield giants even need the Selecao samba star anymore.
Although the ‘Fab Four’ as a unit is a dangerous outfit, Klopp has tended not to play all four together on a regular basis, much to the frustration of our local Kopites.
Though by losing Coutinho, some might believe it would be a major blow. However, with the front trio The Reds have and surely £100m plus to spend on defensive positions, they could replace the Brazilian with a couple of decent players and rebuild a team.
Our regulars now think that Salah, not Coutinho, is Liverpool’s prized asset to keep hold of.
