Our Liverpool fans here in the Transfer Tavern are really hoping that their side is going to challenge for the Premier League trophy this season.
The men from Anfield have not won the league for nearly 30 years now and for a side that was so dominant, that seems utterly inexcusable.
Even so, that is where they are but it does look as though Jurgen Klopp is going to be the best man to try and break the wait in the near future.
Indeed, he’s put together an exciting squad full of attacking verve and it appears as though he wants to add to it with West Ham’s Manuel Lanzini.
The Argentine shone last season – especially after Dimitri Payet left the club – and is coming into his prime, suggesting he should have an even better season this time around.
However, as per The Evening Standard, West Ham are determined to rebuff any offer the Reds make for the player as they themselves look to have a good year.
Slaven Bilic has a decent squad available to him right now and letting Lanzini go would obviously prove detrimental to that.
This would certainly be an interesting one when you consider that Lanzini has not played for one of the clubs at the sharp end of the Premier League before.
Of course, in 2015/16 he played for a West Ham side that qualified for Europe but the expectation at the club is far less than that at Liverpool.
He’d have to deal with that should he move, then, especially given many Reds supporters are seriously expecting a title tilt.
