Liverpool set to bring in quick-fire replacement after Klopp seal of approval

Because there’s oh so much going right on the pitch right now, the Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have been in good spirits of late.

Jurgen Klopp’s impact on the Reds is really there for all to see, so for the Merseyside locals propping up the bar, goings on behind the scenes are rather here nor there.

Still, reports from the Daily Mail suggesting top brass at Anfield could be set for a reshuffle are interesting.

They’ve revealed that the club are ready to promote Michael Edwards, who reportedly has a huge influence in and around the club’s Melwood training base, to replace the outgoing Ian Ayre.

The latter is the club’s chief executive, though is preparing to leave Liverpool at the end of the season to make a surprise move and join German side 1860 Munich.

Fenway Sports Group, who own the Anfield giants, are said to hold Edwards in high esteem and hope the transition will be relatively smooth.

Klopp himself is believed to have formed a good relationship with him and is thought to have urged FSG to appoint a sporting director.
