Liverpool’s summer transfer business has been excellent thus far, but no new arrivals are expected.
Jurgen Klopp has splashed £170m to bring Fabinho, Naby Keita, Xherdan Shaqiri and Alisson Becker to Anfield. The German seems content with his squad and will focus on offloading fringe players such as Danny Ings and Lazar Markovic before the window shuts in 10 days. Business is unlikely but not impossible.
Should Nabil Fekir’s situation change at Lyon, Klopp may be tempted to revive Liverpool’s failed move for the World Cup winner. Christian Pulisic is also reportedly considering his future at Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool will want to beat Chelsea in the race for his signature if he decides to leave. The Reds should also take advantage of a situation at Tottenham Hotspur.
Promising youngster, Reo Griffiths, looks set to leave the Lilywhites despite signing a new deal a couple of months ago. Metro reports that Lyon are in advanced talks for the forward. However, Liverpool should attempt to bring him to Anfield.
The 18-year-old rose to prominence last season after scoring 33 goals in 34 appearances for Tottenham’s U18 side – including four goals in a 9-0 destruction of North London rivals Arsenal. His performances attracted interest from RB Leipzig and Celtic before the youngster penned a scholarship deal. However, reports suggest the youngster has cancelled his contract and already left the club.
Griffiths struggled when making the step up to U23 level but remains one of the most promising youngsters in England. His goal record at youth level is phenomenal, and he will no doubt improve with age. Moving to Liverpool may be a tempting proposition for the youngster after watching players such as Trent Alexander-Arnold establish themselves in the first-team at such a young age.
Alongside Rhian Brewster, Liverpool could complete their attack for the next decade.
