Our Liverpool fans here in the Transfer Tavern are certainly liking what their side is doing at the moment with their club acting quickly in the transfer market so far.
The men from Anfield have had a superb start to the window, for sure, with Mo Salah and Dominic Solanke signed but there can be no doubt that the spending is going to continue.
Indeed, the club has European football on the agenda next season and so they need extra players with Marca claiming a huge 100m Euro bid has been rejected by Monaco for Kylian Mbappe.
For sure, the Monaco star looks like he could be top drawer in the future but we think a reality check is needed and that the Reds should avoid pursuing this deal further.
Indeed, it looks as though, if a club manages to sign the forward, that they are going to have to fork out a stupid amount of cash for a player that is still unproven.
Yes, he looks like he could be special, but one injury, or a failure to reach that potential is going to leave whoever buys him with egg on their face.
And Liverpool, with their still rather thin squad, cannot allow that to happen to them.
Indeed, their defence still needs massive improvement and 100m Euros would see them do just that – leaving them with a squad that would be far better rounded than if they blew it all on Mbappe.
