Liverpool fans will welcome the news that Chelsea have been banned from signing players for the next two transfer windows.

The Blues were expected to compete for the title after appointing Maurizio Sarri in the summer but have fallen well short of expectations. Instead, the Reds are in a three-way battle for the Premier League trophy alongside Manchester City and Tottenham. With Fifa hitting Chelsea with a two-year transfer ban, it might be a while before they challenge at the top of the table again.

After not spending a penny in the January transfer window, Jurgen Klopp might want to bolster his squad heavily in the summer again. The German would be wise to add to his options in attack with both Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi coming to the end of their deals at the club.

With that in mind, the ex-Dortmund boss would be wise to raid their rivals who will be unable to sign players for two years. Indeed, while Chelsea would be in no rush to sell to domestic rivals, the Reds could certainly unsettle one of England's top talents, creating a difficult situation for those in West London.

One man Klopp should try to poach is Chelsea wonderkid – Callum Hudson-Odoi. Valued at £22.5m by Transfermarkt, the 18-year-old is a graduate of the club’s youth academy and is widely regarded as the hottest prospect to be developed at Stamford Bridge. However, he has found first-team opportunities limited under Sarri who insisted that Chelsea would be forced to sell to include him in the first-team despite Hudson-Odoi scoring against Malmo.

Should he continue to be limited to a role on the bench, the England U19 international could decide to leave the club after being subject of significant interest from Bayern Munich. Liverpool should enter the race for his signature due to his massive potential. The winger would be buoyed to see the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez develop into key players at Anfield during Klopp’s spell at the club.

With Klopp previously suggesting the Reds were keen on a move for Jadon Sancho, his former England youth international teammate could be even better if Liverpool were ready to strike.

Not only would the move be a massive blow to a Premier League rival, but Hudson-Odoi could also go on to be a legend on Merseyside.
