Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are getting ready for the Champions League final against Real Madrid at the end of the month following the completion of the Premier League.
A 4-0 win over Brighton secured Champions League football at Anfield for the second successive season with Mohamed Salah breaking the record for the most goals in a 38-game Premier League season. It represents a season of progress for Jurgen Klopp – they are the only team in England to remain unbeaten at home all season. For only the third time since 2009, the Reds have finished in the top four.
Regardless of the result against Madrid, Liverpool will be able to attract the best players to Merseyside next year as they look to build a squad capable of challenging Manchester City for the title. Klopp will also have a transfer war chest at his disposal with the funds generated from Philippe Coutinho’s £140m sale yet to be spent.
With the arrival of Naby Keita already confirmed, Liverpool should look to partner him with Arsenal midfielder – Aaron Ramsey – who is valued at £36m according to Transfermarkt. The Reds raided the Emirates last summer for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain who has been a revelation since moving up north. Now, they should return for his former team-mate.
The 27-year-old has just one year remaining on his contract with the Gunners – as did Oxlade-Chamberlain last summer. Ramsey has been a key player for Arsene Wenger this season, scoring seven goals and notching ten assists in 24 Premier League appearances.
While the Welshman remains inconsistent at times, his all-action style would be ideal under Jurgen Klopp. An old-fashioned box-to-box midfielder, Ramsey would thrive in a heavy metal midfield, chipping in with vital goals behind the aforementioned attacking trident.
